MONITORING STATIONS LOCATIONS
LEGEND
- MET ... Meteorological (weather) Station records wind-speed/direction and temperature. Operated by ASI (blue flag)
- Wallace Terrace (AAQM) monitors air quality for sulphur compounds and particulates. Operated by ASI. (green flag)
- Dustfall Stations collect dust and are sampled weekly by ASI. (yellow flag)
Algoma Steel Inc. operates 3 ambient air quality monitoring . The stations are located on
TRS is "Total Reduced Sulphur". The Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks ambient air quality criterion for TRS is 7 micrograms per cubic metre (5 parts per billion) for a 24 hour period and 13 micrograms per cubic metre for a 10 minute period (10 parts per billion).
PM10 is "fine particulate matter". The adopted Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks interim ambient air quality criterion for PM10 is 50 micrograms per cubic metre for a 24-hour period, which is based on a Canada Wide Standard.
PM2.5... even finer particulate matter ...which is even more harmful but for which there is no national standard!
